French For Pineapple by Bianca Hall

Notes To Self: Thoughts on decluttering, and belongings that I’m looking forward to being reunited with. Eventually.

Or how to give yourself anxiety and a massive to do list.

So many of our belongings are still in boxes. We know we’ll likely need to put loads of things into storage before our renovation starts (none the wiser when that might be at this point), but there seems little point in unpacking anything surplus to immediate requirement at the moment.

As we’ve been in the house for three months now I’ve been wondering more and more exactly what IS in all those boxes, and do we even need any of it?

Then every so often, I’ll be cooking and go to find something - something as banal as an enamel bowl for example, and realise I’ve not seen that particular thing since we moved. Or a particular platter. In fact, now it is (or was!) salad season I’ve realised that my favourite platter is M.I.A, and I do fear for its safety - also not seen since we moved. So I know that at least one of the stacked up boxes contains more kitchen bits.
