Renovation Diary: Chapter Five
Going backwards (and in circles) to go forwards
This week has felt a little more productive. Kind of.
I’ve ACTUALLY FINISHED the microcement. Hallelujah and praise be. Can I have a HUGE round of applause?! With hindsight, I think that perhaps due to my perfectionist nature that this is not the DIY for me. I’ve written about it in more depth for Saturday’s post, but for now, let’s just say there were points where I hated it and wanted to give up / destroy what I’d done / throw a bucket of paint at it / scream / cry / swear (I did definitely do that - and loudly, which was quite cathartic) walk away etc etc etc. However, now that it’s done, I have to admit that I’m pretty happy with it.
It doesn’t really look much different to what I showed you last week, so I won’t bore you with another underwhelming photo, but all the layers are done. I do still have to seal it which involves more sanding, but at least the super mucky and stressful part is over.
You’ll of course be the first to see the finished room once the loo, shower, shower screen, vanity and tap, new light, and a mirror go in.
