Shop It! Elevated Objects

Because those pieces that make your heart sing are what really make a home feel special and personal, and interesting.

Every room (yes I do mean EVERY room) deserves at least one special elevated piece. Whether that’s an incredible wallpaper, beautiful drawer pulls, an extra special wall light, or an ornamental piece. It doesn’t have to be a huge piece of furniture, though it absolutely could be. Something a bit different and unexpected. Something that makes you smile to yourself every time you see it.

I’m mentally collecting these pieces ALL the time, so I thought I’d share some that are on my radar at the moment. They don’t have to be hand made one-offs (but it sure helps), and they don’t have to cost a fortune, but we all know I have expensive taste a lot (most) of the time.

For me, items that fall into this category are a bit frivolous, things you don’t technically ‘need’, yet you NEED them on a different level. The things that stop you in your tracks and really make your heart sing.

If you need help justifying such a purchase, combine it with something you do actually need, just make it more elevated. Like a mirror for the bathroom that’s beyond the purely functional remit, then it will fall under the William Morris ‘useful and beautiful’ umbrella as much as the Marie Kondo sparking joy’ one.

See? I can justify pretty much anything. Consider me your own personal enabler.
